ORLANDO, Fla. – Once again, AAA is offering free rides to stranded drivers as part of its “Tow to Go” program, according to a news release.
The program officially began on Dec. 24 but gains particular importance on New Year’s Eve when thousands of people welcome in the year 2025. This program continues to operate until Jan. 2.
Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group, emphasized the significance of making responsible decisions during the holiday season. He stated, “If you find yourself in a situation where you are considering driving under the influence, it is crucial to avoid that choice. Instead, call Tow to Go, and AAA will dispatch a truck to transport you and your vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.”
According to the release, the program is aimed at keeping impaired drivers off the road during the holiday season.
You don’t have to be a AAA member to use the service. For a free ride, call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246.
AAA officials said the program has removed more than 30,000 impaired drivers from the roadway.
Program details include:
-
Confidential local ride for one person and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.
-
It is important to note that appointments cannot be made in advance for using the Tow to Go service. This service is specifically intended to assist individuals who have not prearranged for a safe journey home. It is always recommended to designate a sober driver before any festivities that involve alcohol.
-
In some situations, AAA may need to make other arrangements to get an impaired individual a safe ride home.
-
Tow to Go may not be available in rural areas or during severe weather conditions.
Officials said they expect to respond to calls from more than 860,000 drivers with car trouble during the holidays and advise using the Two to Go program as a last resort. Plan for a safe ride home by identifying a designated driver or ride sharing service before you party.
The program is available in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Colorado (Denver), North Carolina (Charlotte), Indiana (Fort Wayne/South Bend), according to the release.
