In Sanford, Fla. – An arrest report states that a teacher at Seminole High School allegedly punched a student with autism in the ribs and arm area.
Jeffrey Alexander Jung, 27, was arrested Monday.
Jung, who had been working as a substitute teacher at the school since August 2024, is no longer employed by Seminole County Public Schools. The district confirmed Jung’s status as a long-term substitute teacher.
The Sanford Police Department reported that school staff witnessed Jung shouting at the student in a classroom, accusing the student of causing another student to have a bloody nose.
Two witnesses then say Jung began to punch the student, according to the report.
“Any allegations of misconduct by our staff will be taken seriously and handled quickly. We will continue to fully cooperate and assist law enforcement as they continue their investigation. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and any type of behavior that jeopardizes that safety will not be tolerated in Seminole County Public Schools,” the district said in a statement.
Jung was arrested but later posted bond and was released from jail.
