MOUNT DORA, Fla. – The City of Mount Dora is expecting thousands of people to ring in 2025 at its annual New Year’s Eve celebration.
City officials estimate 15,000 people will countdown to midnight at Sunset Park.
The event will be complete with live entertainment, street games and, of course, midnight fireworks.
According to Chris Carson, Cultural and Special Events Manager for the City of Mount Dora, the essence of a holiday celebration lies in the emotions it evokes and the experience of living in the present moment.
Carson anticipates the New Year’s Eve bash will bring in millions of dollars.
“The whole area is going to see millions of dollars coming into Mount Dora, as well as Lake County,” Carson said.
Located near Sunset Park, Magical Meat Boutique is gearing up for a bustling New Year’s Eve, anticipating a surge of customers during the festivities.
Phil Barnard, the owner of Magical Meat Boutique, shared plans to set up a small bar by the fence to cater to the crowd enjoying the open entertainment, allowing people to grab drinks and continue reveling in the celebrations.
Barnard said they plan to celebrate 2025 not once, but twice.
“We’re having a double celebration,” Barnard said. “We’ll have up a big screen, and at 7 o’clock, we celebrate the eve, New Year’s Eve in England. So we have all the fireworks in Big Bend and in London, and then, you know, champagne and everything else. And then, we’ll have the local one, midnight.”
People who live in Mount Dora or are passing through to celebrate can expect road closures downtown on Tuesday.
From 2 p.m. – 9 a.m., 4th Avenue between Dora Drawdy Way and Alexander Street will be closed, and from 7 p.m. – 12:45 a.m., Alexander Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue will close.
Mount Dora Police Chief Michael Gibson said they’ll be out in full force making sure people ring in 2025 safely.
“Well, they always need, clearly from a safety perspective, they need to be aware of their surroundings, always,” Gibson said. “There’ll be plenty of police officers, so if they need us for anything, just call for help.”
City officials told News 6 that the shuttles will not run for this event.
