James Zachariah Jones, a 34-year-old man from Boulder, was taken into custody on Tuesday following a swift confrontation with law enforcement. Authorities informed in a public statement that Jones was facing multiple charges related to domestic violence.
The arrest took place at an apartment located on Sundown Lane, which is in the vicinity of the Taft Drive intersection. The police were summoned to the scene at approximately 11 a.m., where they encountered Jones and initiated a standoff.
Despite initial unsuccessful attempts to engage in dialogue with Jones, the situation was resolved peacefully after the Boulder Police SWAT Team was brought in to facilitate the operation. Subsequently, Jones relented and was apprehended without any untoward incidents.
Several residents of the apartment complex were evacuated as a precaution, police said.
Jones was taken to jail on several charges, including second-degree assault, third-degree assault and false imprisonment.
“Additionally, the suspect had an active warrant out of Pitkin County for Failure to Appear on an unrelated 3rd degree assault charge stemming from a separate incident in that jurisdiction,” a Boulder Police Department spokesperson said.
