After reports emerged towards the end of last week regarding the Cleveland Cavaliers’ intentions to add guard/forward Javonte Green to their roster, the team officially confirmed the acquisition on Sunday morning.
According to a press release from the Cavs, Green, standing at 6-4 and weighing 220 pounds, has participated in 50 games (18 of which he started) for the New Orleans Pelicans this season. In these games, he has been able to maintain averages of 5.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.10 steals, and 0.60 blocks in 21.8 minutes. It was noted that Green was released by New Orleans on February 20, with highlights such as recording 14 multi-steal performances during this season, capped by his career-best five steals in a game against Sacramento in his final appearance with the Pelicans on February 13.
He also ranked second for the Pelicans in both total steals (55) and blocks (30), scoring in double figures on seven occasions this season.

In addition to his regular-season appearances, Green has also taken part in six NBA postseason games. As an undrafted player from Radford University, he was honored as the Big South Defensive Player of the Year in 2015. Green left his mark on the university’s basketball program by becoming its all-time leader in rebounds (1,064), steals (245), and games played (133), and sitting in second place for points scored (1,911).
