BAY LAKE, Fla. – A popular EPCOT attraction is on track for a summer reopening.
Test Track, previously presented by Chevrolet, went through temporary closure in June 2024 for a reimagining process. The ride is set to reopen on July 22 under the new name Test Track presented by General Motors.
Disney has announced that the revamped attraction will introduce a fresh musical score and incorporate new scenes that showcase cutting-edge technologies enhancing the intelligence of the cars.
One of the highlights of the update includes a demonstration by Disney Imagineers featuring 29,000 points of light. These lights will be part of a scene demonstrating how modern vehicles can utilize advanced cameras and sensors to visually perceive and interpret their surroundings.
As for the vehicles, Disney rewrapped its vehicles with new, darker graphics that will blend in with the environment. There are also new graphics on the interior as well as new seating.
Disney was heard testing vehicles in May.
Test Track presented by General Motors marks the third reimagining of the attraction. The attraction had two previous versions, sponsored by General Motors when it originally opened in March 1999, then by Chevrolet in December 2012.
Cast members, Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, Golden Oak residents, and Club 33 Members are encouraged to stay tuned for special previews that will be announced in the coming weeks.
