It’s the first such honor for Mobley and the second for Mitchell, who also made the first team for the first time in his career.
CLEVELAND — The Cavaliers continue to receive individual accolades, as Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley were both named to the esteemed All-NBA Team on Friday.
This is Mobley’s first time receiving this honor, while it is the second for Mitchell, who made the first team for the initial time in his career. Mitchell joins LeBron James (eight selections) and Mark Price as the only players in Cleveland history to earn first-team recognition.
Among the five first-team selections, Mitchell was the sole player not chosen unanimously, receiving 61 out of 100 first-place votes. Nevertheless, the 28-year-old guard’s performance speaks volumes, as he was one of just three players in the league to maintain averages of at least 24.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while also tallying at least 200 made 3-pointers.
Mitchell was second-team All-NBA in 2023 and likely would’ve made it again last season, but he failed to meet the league’s minimum threshold of 65 games played to qualify for regular-season awards. He more than cleared that bar this time around, as his 71 games played were his most since 2018-19.
Meanwhile, Friday’s second-team nod was just the latest notch in Mobley’s growing belt of notoriety, part of a season that included his first All-Star appearance, an All-Defensive First Team selection, and the distinction of being the first Cavalier to take home NBA Defensive Player of the Year honors. The 23-year-old’s breakout 2024-25 campaign included a career-high 18.5 points per game on 55.7% shooting along with 9.3 rebounds per contest, and the “unicorn” big man also placed fifth in the NBA in both blocks (1.6) and contested shots (10.4) per game as well as sixth in overall defensive rating (108.3).
Other than James in 2005, Mobley is the youngest Cavs player to make an All-NBA roster. Not to be outdone, the “Kid from Akron” added to his growing league record with his 21st consecutive selection, making the second team representing the Los Angeles Lakers.
Besides Mitchell and Mobley, point guard Darius Garland received a second-place vote and three third-place votes. The rest of the 2025 All-NBA Team is as follows:
