An 84-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being hit by a car in Northfield Center Township on Tuesday evening. The incident is now under investigation by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a release, sheriff’s deputies were called to the 9200 block of Olde 8 Road at approximately 8 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle. The elderly victim from Boston Heights was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center by the Macedonia Fire Department, but later died from her injuries at the hospital.
Multiple law enforcement agencies teamed up to help investigate the crash.Â
Investigators believe that the woman was struck by a “late model, blue Ford Explorer” that was heading northbound on Olde 8 Road at the time of the incident. Officials add the Explorer “did not stop after striking the victim and subsequently fled the scene.”
