Celebrating Fat Tuesday 2025 with paczki at Rudy's Strudel and Bakery in Parma

It wouldn’t be Fat Tuesday without a visit to Rudy’s Strudel and Bakery in Parma for paczki.

PARMA, Ohio — This week marks the celebration of Fat Tuesday, and that means it’s time for the annual early morning event at Rudy’s Strudel and Bakery in Parma for their grand paczki party.

You can witness all the excitement as 3News’ David Greenberg will be providing live coverage from Rudy’s Strudel during the “GO!” morning show on Tuesday from 4:30-7 a.m.

Never had a paczki before? Here’s what these treats are all about…

“Paczki are decadent, deep-fried dough pastries filled with a variety of flavors, enjoyed during the festive Carnival season leading up to Lent, with the pinnacle being Paczki Day or Fat Tuesday (also referred to as Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras),” as described on Rudy’s website.

Earlier this year, Rudy’s Strudel owner Lidia Trempe revealed two new paczki flavors live on “GO!” Those new flavors are…

In honor of Marty Sullivan, which features three buttercreams based on Superman ice cream.

“So we have a cherry, vanilla and a blue moon, which is almond,” Trempe explained during the flavor reveal on Jan. 22.

  • Blood orange mimosa buttercream

Inspired by International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8.

“This one’s for you, ladies!” Trempe said, while explaining they partnered with Immigrant Son Brewing in Lakewood to create this new paczki experience.

Rudy’s serves up a variety of paczki flavors, too, ranging from sweet to savory including apple, blueberry, cherry, lemon, pineapple, raspberry and strawberry.

The Fat Tuesday paczki party at Rudy’s has become a tradition for decades — and the event always starts extra early with people lining up well before sunrise.

Rudy’s Strudel and Bakery is located at 5580 Ridge Road.
