An 81-year-old man lost his life, and a 16-year-old boy suffered serious injuries following a collision between their pickup trucks on State Road 40 in Volusia County, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 7:26 p.m. on State Road 40 near Shadow Crossings Boulevard.
The incident, detailed in a crash report, involved a 2021 Ford F150 driven by the elderly man from Daytona Beach. The report stated that the man had come to a stop at a stop sign and then proceeded to make a left turn onto SR-40, crossing paths with a 2015 GMC Sierra coming in the opposite direction.
Troopers said the front left of the Ford collided with the front right of the GMC, causing the Ford to overturn.
The Daytona Beach man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC, a 16-year-old Ormond Beach boy, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
An investigation is ongoing.
