A Vermilion woman is dead and two others were hurt following a car crash in Erie County Tuesday evening.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, all three of the individuals involved are from the city of Vermilion. The 33-year-old female driver of a Chevrolet Suburban is alleged to have failed to yield while turning left from U.S. Route 6 to state Route 61 in Berlin Township, causing her vehicle to be struck by a Dodge Journey at the intersection.

The 70-year-old male driver along with the female passenger of the Dodge were taken by ambulance to area hospitals. The passenger, identified as 67-year-old Alethea Green, died there from her injuries. The driver is currently being treated for “incapacitating injuries” at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, per officials.

Officials say the driver of the Chevy accused of causing the crash was also hurt. She was taken by ambulance to Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.

No charges have been filed at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
