Officials say Sean Gates, 39, was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
An inquiry is being conducted following the death of Sean Gates, 39, in a hit-and-run incident on Sunday evening in Canton Township. The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
Responding to a call at approximately 10:40 p.m. on June 15, deputies arrived at the 1600 block of Shepler Church Avenue SW. Authorities reported that Gates was hit by a vehicle that promptly left the accident site.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release.
Authorities suspect that the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run is a white sedan that likely sustained damage to its front end. Surveillance footage capturing images of the vehicle has been made public and can be accessed below.
