WASHINGTON — A teenage permit holder’s driving lesson turned deadly on Memorial Day in Laguna Beach, California.
A 64-year-old man was giving his 15-year-old daughter a driving lesson in the upper parking lot of a closed Gelson’s Market, as reported by the LA Times. The incident took place on Monday afternoon.

Video from the scene showed that the vehicle landed upside down on the sidewalk.
According to the LA Times, the teenager sustained significant injuries and was swiftly transported to the hospital. Tragically, her father was declared deceased at the location of the accident.
Laguna Beach Police told The Orange County Register it was “a tragic incident.”
“Tragically, an adult male passenger in the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the department’s release said, according to KTLA. “The Laguna Beach Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident.”
