Woman charged with murder in Kansas City reporter's death, accomplice arrested in Florida

Danette Colbert now faces a murder charge after the death of Telemundo reporter Adan Manzano in a Kenner hotel.

NEW ORLEANS — The woman accused in the death of a Kansas City reporter during Super Bowl weekend now faces a murder charge, according to the Kenner Police Department.

During a press conference Tuesday, police announced that an alleged accomplice was arrested in Florida.

Ricky White was booked on charges of simple robbery, purse snatching, access device fraud, illegal transfer of monetary funds, bank fraud, and computer fraud.

White is awaiting extradition to Louisiana.

Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley has confirmed the woman previously arrested on charges in connection with the death of Adan Manzano, has now been charged with his murder.

Danette Colbert was originally charged with fraud and theft following Manzano’s death last month in a Kenner hotel room.

According to Conley, detectives have now re-arrested Colbert on a second-degree murder charge.

The 48-year-old was captured on security video arriving at the hotel with Manzano, then leaving alone about an hour later.

Police allege Colbert used Manzano’s credit card in New Orleans after his death.

Investigators later recovered the credit card and Manzano’s cellphone at Colbert’s apartment in Slidell.

According to police, Manzano had an anti-anxiety drug commonly sold as Xanax in his system at the time of his death.

Colbert remains in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
