MOUNT DORA, Fla. – Detectives are still on the hunt for the suspect involved in a mysterious double homicide that occurred in Mount Dora four years ago, as disclosed by the police department on Monday.
According to a police statement, on Nov. 30, 2020, at approximately 8:50 p.m., authorities were alerted to a shooting incident at T & N Market, situated at 1345 N. Grandview Street.
Upon arrival, police found two victims in the store with gunshot wounds, the release shows.
The victims, identified as Minh “Tina” Nguyen, 47, and Khiem “Ken” Ba Trinh, 57, succumbed to their injuries, leading to an extensive investigation spanning several years to uncover the individual responsible for their deaths.
Investigators said they determined that the shooting stemmed from an armed robbery, where the suspect confronted Trinh and forced him back into the store as it was closing for the evening.
Both Nguyen and Trinh were shot several times, and the suspect fled on foot through the parking lot afterward, investigators added. Eventually, a customer entered the store and found the two victims, sparking a call to 911.
“Ken and Tina were beloved members of the Mount Dora community, known for their longstanding business and their presence in the Northeast Community,” the release reads. “At this time, the suspect remains at large.”
Police said they are searching for a “male suspect with a thin build,” and a $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
“This tragic loss has deeply impacted our community. Ken and Tina were not just business owners — they were family to so many in Mount Dora,” Police Chief Michael Gibson said. “We are committed to finding the person responsible and bringing them to justice, but we need the community’s help to make that happen. Even the smallest tip could make a difference.”
