Fans looking to plan the trip on their own are also looking at shelling out the dough for travel and lodging.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Buckeye fans are getting pumped for their team to play in the Rose Bowl in the new year, but getting to the game comes at a price.
10TV checked with several travel agencies on Monday and found that they had already sold out of packages to the game. Despite this, Travel Partners of Dublin still had availability for their land-only package, which includes the game ticket, hotel accommodation, transportation, and some meals. However, the package does not cover the cost of getting to the destination.
Kyle Lewis at Travel Partners of Dublin said they’ve already filled a charter flight and are considering another if they have enough people to fill it.
“We’re discussing about getting another plane and if we can pull that off and if we can get the rooms to go with those air seats, maybe we can do it,” he said.
He said people calling now for the package including a flight are being put on a waitlist to be alerted if things change in the coming days.
That package comes at a cost. Lewis said it runs $3,699 per person for two people and a room, but it takes the hassle out of planning everything and it hasn’t increased in cost since 2021.
Fans looking to plan the trip on their own are also looking at shelling out the dough for travel and lodging.
Google Flights showed the cheapest flight leaving on Dec. 31 and returning Jan. 2 being a United flight with a layover for a little more than $520. Direct flights are a bit more at around $800 per person.
Travelocity for a two-night hotel stay ranged from $500 at a Motel 6 to $1500 at a Best Western. Airbnb is a cheaper option, but travelers will share the space with the homeowner or other guests.
Delta Airlines announced Monday morning it is adding two direct flights between Columbus and Los Angeles for the game. The flights will be on Boeing 757s which can carry between 200 and 295 passengers.

Buckeye merchandise retailers are also preparing for the bowl game. Rally House on Lane Avenue didn’t have Rose Bowl merchandise on the racks yet but said it would be there in the next couple of days. Fans have already been preordering their gear online.
“Revenge at the Rose Bowl, right,” said Zach Host, manager at Rally House.
He said fans have been excited since Saturday. One thing missing from the store is any merchandise referencing Ohio State’s matchup with Tennessee from Saturday.
“It completely sold out. It went really quick along with our beanies and outwear accessories with the cold game,” he said.
