Crews prepare ice rink for NHL Stadium Series at the 'Shoe

They worked throughout the weekend to get things prepared for the March 1 game.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The pieces are starting to come together at Ohio Stadium ahead of this weekend’s NHL Stadium Series game.

Crews worked Friday to assemble the rink and started the ice installation process, continuing their efforts over the weekend to ensure everything is ready for the March 1 game.


The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Detroit Red Wings are set to play in the 2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series at Ohio Stadium.

The game starts at 6 p.m. and gates open at 4 p.m.


The Blue Jackets announced the team will be wearing special uniforms for the game that pays tribute to the history of Ohio and Columbus.

Those eager to arrive on campus ahead of time can enjoy the NHL PreGame tailgate party starting at noon in the Riverwatch Tower parking lot at 364 West Lane Ave.

This complimentary event will include engaging hockey activities, special appearances, and the exciting opportunity to snap a picture with the prestigious Stanley Cup.

There will also be an NHL Stadium Series Pep Rally at St. John Arena starting at 2 p.m. The pep rally is free and open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Rock band O.A.R. will perform at 2:30 p.m. followed by the Ohio State Athletic Band.

The matchup will be the Blue Jackets’ first regular-season outdoor game.
