ORLANDO, Fla. – Floridians now have until May 1, 2025, to file their federal tax returns, according to the Internal Revenue Service.
The IRS made the announcement after Hurricane Milton ripped through Florida on Oct. 5, 2024.
The extension applies to individuals and business tax returns for Floridians, according to the IRS.
According to a statement by the IRS, the declaration enables the IRS to delay specific tax-filing and tax-payment deadlines for taxpayers in the affected area.
Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Orlando,also posted a reminder on social media on Friday.
‼️FLORIDA: Due to the impacts of Hurricanes Milton and Helene the IRS has extended the federal tax filing deadline to May 1, 2025 for ALL Floridians.
