A Lee County mother was fatally shot in a drive-by on Christmas, leaving behind five grieving children and a family seeking justice.
LEE COUNTY, S.C. — A family in Lee County is remembering their mother, who was shot and killed during a drive-by shooting on Christmas day.
A tragic incident occurred when Calandra Nicole Troy, aged 39, was fatally shot in the Piedmont region near Hwy. 15 outside Bishopville, with one of her five children as a witness to the horrific event.
According to a close family friend, Prissie Aerianiah, the youngest child was present outside during the shooting. It was only due to the quick actions of Calandra’s younger child in rescuing the smallest baby that prevented further harm. Aerianiah emphasized the severity of the situation and the importance of the younger child’s intervention.
All five of Troy’s children and her granddaughter shared memories they will cherish forever. Now, all that’s left are the memories.
One of Calandra’s sons expressed the family’s deep sorrow and the harsh reality they are facing. He stressed that the pain they are going through is not temporary and should not be taken lightly. The son highlighted the seriousness of the situation, emphasizing that their experiences are real and far from being just a game.
“Her life was taken, and we have to go an eternity without her.”

Two more of her children said one memory they hold dear is the last one they could make before her tragic death.
“My favorite memory was on Thanksgiving when everyone came around, and we were dancing, singing and partying, just spending time together,” said Patience Troy.
“My favorite memory with my mom is watching movies with her before Christmas,” added Evia Wilson.
Her oldest daughter, Sheniah Troy, said the family is working with police to make an arrest.
“All I can say is this was wrong. Whoever did this deserves their karma,” she said. “I just [want] them to find who did this to my mother; she was a good person and did not deserve this.”
A family friend said all of Troy’s children will be staying with family for now.
Investigators said a second person was shot and taken to a nearby hospital – the condition of that person is unknown at this time. On Sunday night, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department confirmed it had made an arrest in the case and that additional information would follow during the week.
