Officials say the pedestrian was ‘alert and aware’ upon being taken by ambulance to UH Elyria Medical Center.
A woman was taken to the hospital after being struck by a Lorain police cruiser on New Year’s Eve.
A police cruiser was heading south on Broadway Avenue, transporting an arrested individual, when a 48-year-old woman suddenly appeared in the road close to West 32nd Street around 10 p.m. Despite the officer’s efforts to avoid her, the cruiser ended up hitting the woman with its front driver’s side.
The woman sustained visible injuries but remained conscious as she was transported by ambulance to UH Elyria Medical Center. The Lorain Police Traffic Investigations Bureau is conducting an inquiry into the matter, collaborating with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to investigate the incident further.
