KISSIMMEE, Fla. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a deputy was injured and another driver was killed in a crash on the Florida Turnpike on Thursday evening.
In a release, troopers said the crash happened around 7:04 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway near mile marker 250 in Kissimmee.
Investigators explained that the crash involved an Orange County Sheriff’s Office truck and another car.
The truck driver — a deputy with the OCSO — was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, troopers reported.
Meanwhile, the other driver — whose identity has not yet been released — later died at the hospital, the release shows.
Troopers have reported that the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike have been closed for the ongoing investigation. As a result, traffic is currently being rerouted at Osceola Parkway.
