Police say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
LANCASTER, Ohio — A man was arrested after an hours-long barricade situation in Lancaster on Saturday.
The Lancaster Police Department said they received a 911 hang-up call around 3:30 p.m. from the 800 block of West Sixth Avenue.
Officers arrived on the scene and determined the incident involved domestic violence, with the suspect barricaded inside the home.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, of Lancaster, was believed to have had a firearm, police said.
Due to the potential threat, the Lancaster Police Department’s Special Response Team and Hostage Negotiation Team responded to the scene.
According to a 10TV photographer at the scene, law enforcement breached the home around 7 p.m.
Johnson found himself in trouble when he was taken into custody and transferred to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office jail. He was placed on a probation hold pending further review of his case by the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office for potential criminal charges.
