Man arrested on attempted first-degree murder charges in connection with Oct. 6 shooting in downtown Denver

DENVER — A suspect was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting in downtown Denver that left a man injured after an apparent altercation.

Elionenai Arias-Adame, aged 32, is currently in custody under suspicion of attempted first-degree murder related to a shooting incident that took place on October 6 near 22nd and Lawrence streets in downtown Denver.

According to a police statement released on Friday, law enforcement officers were called to the scene on that day at around 11:33 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arriving, they discovered a man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the foot. The injured individual was swiftly transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Following an investigation, it was determined that there had been a verbal dispute between Arias-Adame and the victim which later led to the shooting. Subsequently, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later found crashed and deserted around two blocks away, as confirmed by a department spokesperson on Friday.

Arias-Adame was identified as the registered owner of the vehicle and through a follow-up investigation, he was identified as the shooting suspect.

Police was then notified on Thursday through a FLOCK automated license plate reader system of the suspect’s location, where police found him and arrested him.

No other details about the shooting were immediately released. The final determination of charges wll be made by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
