Ohio Highway Patrol: Vermilion woman dies after vehicle hits car that failed to yield while turning left

Vehicular homicide charges were brought against Jules Tussaint, 25, following an incident in which he allegedly collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Robert Bilbrey, resulting in the death of the Medina resident.

Authorities reported that a driver hailing from Michigan, identified as Jules Tussaint, is facing vehicular homicide charges subsequent to a collision between two vehicles in Lorain County. The crash took place on Saturday and sadly claimed the life of a man from Medina, according to state troopers.

According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on State Route 18 near Quarry Road in Brighton Township.

The events unfolded as Tussaint, a 25-year-old resident of Royal Oak, Mich., was operating a 2023 Dodge Charger traveling eastbound on SR-18. Simultaneously, a 2005 Toyota Corolla was journeying in the opposite direction. The tragic collision occurred when Tussaint’s vehicle veered out of control and crossed the center line, ultimately colliding head-on with the Toyota being driven by 69-year-old Robert Bilbrey.

Bilbrey was unresponsive when troopers arrived at the scene of the crash. EMS and fire personnel attempted live-saving measures but the Medina man was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to the highway patrol, Tussaint, as well as a passenger in his car, were treated and released from the scene with “possible injuries.”

Tussaint was charged in the Oberlin Municipal Court.

The OSHP said both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor, troopers say.
