Shelter-in-place issued at Muskingum University for possible active shooter, university says

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of a possible shooter at the university around 6:45 p.m.

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — Muskingum University issued a shelter-in-place order as the sheriff’s office investigates reports of a shooter at the university.

Not much information is known, but the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a potential shooter at the university at approximately 6:45 p.m.

The university was alerted by a local dispatcher and quickly instructed the campus to take shelter as there might be an active shooter present.

The sheriff’s office said deputies are searching dorms and they have not found any victims or a shooter.

No other information was immediately available.
