A mother, 32, and her young son were hit by a dark-colored sedan as they were crossing from a sidewalk to a store parking lot. The driver of the car did not stop after the incident.
Police in Parma are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect following a hit-and-run accident that resulted in severe injuries to a mother and her 2-year-old child on Friday night.
The incident occurred at around 7 p.m. as the woman and her son were stepping onto the parking lot of a Marc’s grocery store at 7511 West Ridgewood Drive. The mother was pushing her son in a shopping cart when they were struck by the vehicle. The car did not pause and continued driving towards Ridge Road before then turning south on Ridge Road, based on police reports.
The victims were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.
Police believe the vehicle is a dark colored — possibly blue or black — sedan with silver trim and tinted windows. Officers have checked cameras from area businesses and traffic cameras and have found several vehicles matching the possible description, though several have already been confirmed unrelated to the hit-skip, police say.
