ORLANDO, Fla. — A Delta Airlines flight’s engine caught fire before takeoff from Orlando International Airport on Monday.

The engine caught fire around 11:06 a.m., airport officials said in an X post. All the passengers have been evacuated.

Little is known regarding what caused the fire, but officials said an aircraft rescue and firefighting team “promptly responded.”

Delta flight 1213 was getting ready for a routine flight from Orlando to Atlanta when a fire broke out, as per an announcement from the airline. The flight had 282 passengers, consisting of 10 flight attendants and two pilots.

Passengers were reportedly evacuated once someone noticed flames in the tailpipe of one of the plane’s two engines.

Passengers have now deboarded and are back in the terminal where they are being provided with refreshments. Delta has confirmed that they are arranging for another aircraft to assist in transporting the passengers to their intended locations.

No injuries have been reported, and the airline provided the following statement after Monday’s engine fire,

“We are grateful for the cooperation of our passengers and express regret for the inconvenience caused. Safety is our top priority, and Delta staff are committed to ensuring our passengers reach their destinations promptly,” a Delta spokesperson stated.

Right now, maintenance teams are observing the plane, according to the airline.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
