In Aurora, Colorado, a 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after sustaining a gunshot wound at an apartment near the Kaiser Permanente medical center on Monday morning, as reported by the police.
The boy’s mother discovered him after hearing the gunshot and promptly transported him to Kaiser Permanente. Subsequently, the police were informed around 10:30 a.m., and the boy was rushed to Children’s Hospital with severe injuries deemed “life-threatening” by an Aurora police spokesperson speaking to Denver7.
According to the authorities, the boy was accompanied by his father and potentially other children in a rear room of the apartment when the gun discharged. The person responsible for pulling the trigger has not been definitively identified as yet.
Police say the father left the scene with another child. In an update just before 5:00 pm on Monday, Aurora police said the father had been arrested in Colorado Springs on previous outstanding warrants. He is not considered a suspect in the shooting , but is wanted for questioning.
No information was provided about possible charges stemming from this incident.
