Cleveland museum gets special shoutout from Prince Harry, Meghan Markle

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex highlighted Cleveland’s very own International Women’s Air & Space Museum as part of Women’s History Month.

CLEVELAND — It was a thrilling and unexpected shoutout.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, highlighted Cleveland’s International Women’s Air & Space Museum as part of their Women’s History Month celebration. The couple’s Archewell Foundation spotlighted the IWASM along with other museums and institutes across the nation, emphasizing the importance of women in leadership.

The museum’s mission is to preserve, educate, and inspire communities about the history and contributions of women in the fields of aviation and aerospace. Museum leaders and staff expressed their excitement upon learning about the feature, emphasizing that it was a pleasant surprise.

Mary Frumker, President of the International Women’s Air & Space Museum, mentioned that neither the museum staff nor she were aware of the post in advance. She expressed her hope that the mention by the Duke and Duchess would attract more visitors to the museum to discover the remarkable stories of the pioneering women in aviation and aerospace. Frumker reiterated that the museum always focuses on celebrating women in these industries, regardless of the time of year.

Frumker went on to add that throughout the year, visitors can experience the exhibits for free seven days a week or take advantage of guided tours by subject matter experts on staff for a small fee. She also shared that the museum hosts events and fundraisers throughout the year, with operations and programs exclusively supported through grants, membership, and individual donations.
