Footage acquired by 3News displays flames emerging from The Marquee at Cedar Lee, a building that is still under construction and was due to be finished this year.
A “big fire” at a new apartment building in the Cedar Lee District in Cleveland Heights prompted the response of local crews.
The video acquired by 3News illustrates flames coming out of the Cedar-Lee-Meadowbrook location, also recognized as The Marquee at Cedar Lee, a project valued at $66 million, expected to be completed within the current year. Smoke rising from the complex has also been observed by WKYC reporters.
No one currently lives inside the apartments, and people are being asked to avoid the area. The fire department has blocked off the Cedar-Lee intersection as well as Cedar Road eastbound starting at Kildare Road.
“Smoke is moving northbound in the direction of Heights High School,” the city of Cleveland Heights said in a statement. “Residents who live in the area: please be sure to close windows and doors. Those with respiratory issues should take extra precautions.”
