DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A middle school student taken into custody on Friday by Daytona Beach police is accused of bringing a BB gun to campus.
At around 11:30 a.m., all available resources were called to Campbell Middle School in response to reports received by a school resource officer indicating that a student may have had a firearm in the cafeteria. This information was shared by the Daytona Beach Police Department on social media.
The item turned out to be a BB gun which police soon recovered, the post states.
No injuries were reported and there was no current threat to students, staff, or the public, police said.
Parents were instructed to stay outside the school’s immediate vicinity to facilitate the efficient operation of the officers. Aerial footage from Sky 6 revealed several officers stationed at a specific entrance point to the school.
