Lorain police announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the hit-skip on Monday, Feb. 10.
CLEVELAND — A man is dead after police say he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in Lorain Saturday morning.
The Lorain Police Department reported that a male pedestrian was found lying on the road in front of a Long John Silver’s restaurant on Cooper Foster Park Road just after 6:30 a.m. Lorain and Amherst officers responded to the call.
Police believe the man was hit by a vehicle driving westbound. The vehicle did not remain on scene, police said.Â
The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released by police, was treated by EMS but was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday, Feb. 10, the Lorain police announced that 53-year-old Lynda Wright from Grafton was arrested in connection with the incident. Upon investigation, Wright was identified as a suspect as her car was linked to the man’s death. She was apprehended at the Days Inn on 934 North Leavitt Road in Amherst.
She was charged with failure to stop after an accident.
The accident led to the closure of the area for approximately four hours to allow investigators to gather evidence. The Lorain Police Department’s traffic bureau is currently handling the investigation into the crash.
