I-77 South over I-490 will be reduced to one lane through Wednesday evening as the ‘concrete repairs cure.’
CLEVELAND — There is good news for drivers in downtown Cleveland for your evening commute.
The Ohio Department of Transportation reports that the I-90 West ramp to I-77 South has been reopened after emergency pavement repairs. Â
ODOT adds that I-77 South over I-490 will be reduced to one lane through this evening as the concrete repairs cure.
ODOT made an announcement at 7:22 a.m. on Wednesday that due to emergency pavement repairs, the southbound lanes of I-77 at I-490 were shut down. Drivers had to follow a detour taking them west on I-490 to W. 7th St., then east on I-490 to continue south on I-77.
Officials from ODOT stated that a void was discovered in the road on I-77 just south of I-490. The department is currently assessing the situation to determine the necessary repairs.
Although the hole on the road surface appeared small, ODOT was primarily concerned with assessing the size of the void beneath the road. Drone footage from 3News showed workers filling the hole later in the day.
After the road reopened, ODOT shared pictures of the “void.”
