OCALA, Fla. – A boil water notice was issued for parts of Ocala on Monday, according to a news release.
Officials from the Ocala Water Resources Department informed customers residing between NE 23rd St. and NE 14th St., West of NE 30th Ave., and East of NE 22nd Ave. about a water main break.
According to the release, the boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.
Officials said that customers will be notified when water conditions have returned to drinking water standards.
The department is recommending that all residents in the affected area boil water before using it for activities such as brushing teeth, cooking, drinking, making ice, washing dishes, or food preparation until further updates are provided.
Boil water vigorously for one minute and let it cool before use or use bottled water. Boiling water kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
