Ed Sheeran, Prince William... and Mike Tyson! Following Harry Styles' shock appearance in Luton to watch Man United, can you match these celebrity fans to the teams they support?

Pop megastar Harry Styles made headlines with a shock appearance at Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road last weekend, sitting next to club legend Mick Harford for Manchester United’s 2-1 win over the Hatters.

Styles is famously a United fan and a good friend of Red Devils hero Rio Ferdinand, with the former United stalwart bringing Styles one of his shirts to wear on stage for a One Direction concert at the Manchester Arena in 2013.

TV cameras caught Styles meeting the Sky Sports team in the gantry, and he was pictured alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Curtis Davies and Hatters captain Tom Lockyer prior to kick-off before making his way to the stands.

But he’s not the only famous fan. From fellow singers to royalty, Mail Sport have picked out 10 of the best football-mad celebrities.

Louis Tomlinson – Doncaster Rovers

Styles’ former band-mate in One Direction, Louis Tomlinson, is such a keen Doncaster Rovers fan that he tried to invest in them, and even played for the side.

Tomlinson signed non-contract terms as a player and turn out for the reserve team in February 2014, and the team welcomed his potential involvement at board level.

His 2014 takeover bid however failed, as he teamed up unsuccessfully with former Rovers chairman John Ryan, raising just £757,796 of the £2million target on a crowdfunding website.

Nonetheless, he remains a keen fan, even winning a competition to design the club’s kit two years ago, but won’t be best pleased to see the side lingering in the depths of League Two.

Ed Sheeran – Ipswich

Ed Sheeran may be one of the most famous faces in the country, but can always find time to support his beloved Ipswich Town.

The singer has been heavily involved with the club, too. ‘I have said before that the Football Club, and the community, means a lot to me. Hopefully I’ll make it to Portman Road again soon,’ he said after extending his shirt sponsorship deal for a second season in 2022, a sponsorship that is still ongoing.

Town often play his songs over their PA system before and after matches at Portman Road, and Sheeran has been snapped at the ground a number of times over the years – and could be seen celebrating when they earned promotion to the Championship last season.

It’s also been said that the 33-year-old often meets the Town players at games, though, unlike Tomlinson, he is yet to turn out on the pitch for the club.

Prince William – Aston Villa

When he’s not on royal duties, Prince William’s favourite place to be is Villa Park.

A keen football fan and president of the Football Association, the future king regularly attends matches and has even got his son, Prince George, interested too.

When Princess Charlotte was born in 2014, shirts with the names and numbers ‘George 1’ and ‘HRH 2’ were displayed at Villa Park as a congratulations to William and wife Kate Middleton, and it seems the 41-year-old’s enthusiasm is running in the family.

William often turns up at the training ground, too, perhaps to keep a keen eye on manager Unai Emery’s work.

Dawn French – Plymouth Argyle

‘Erm, well, who are we? Green Army!’ Dawn French exclaimed during an appearance on the Graham Norton show in 2020. ‘I have supported Plymouth Argyle in my life. My family are from that part of the world.’

Actress and comedian French has been seen donning Plymouth attire in the past and, though she was born in Wales, sticks to her family’s roots.

She will have seen the club’s impressive rise up the leagues in recent season, but may be slightly worried now with a relegation battle looming.

Ant and Dec – Newcastle

Much-loved presenting duo Ant and Dec can regularly been seen at Newcastle games at St James’ Park, and were at Wembley last year to watch the Magpies lose in the Carabao Cup final.

The pair aren’t shy of making their loyalties known on tv, either, often cheering their team on during I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! appearances and aiming digs as rivals Sunderland.

It’s not a long trip to games for the pair, who boast Newcastle as their homes with their families still living in the area.

Robbie Williams – Port Vale

Former Take That star Robbie Williams has a long-running affiliation with hometown club Port Vale, and was made president of the club earlier this year amid reports he was preparing to buy it.

In 2005, he founded a team called Los Angeles Vale – named after the side but now disbanded – with a logo very similar to that of Port Vale.

Williams became a fan after his father became the licensee of the club’s social club, played in a testimonial match for club legend Neil Aspin and helped design the kit for the 2020-21 season.

Mike Tyson – Peterborough United

Former heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson is said to be a Peterborough fans after turning up to a friendly against West Ham in 2010.

He met the squad, walked around the pitch in a Peterborough shirt and received a warm reception from the fans as he spoke on the microphone.

Tyson had been in the town to appear at a ‘special evening with Mike Tyson’ event, but admitted he has never heard of Peterborough before visiting. It remains unclear if he’s kept up with their form since.

Margot Robbie – Fulham

Hollywood A-lister Margot Robbie isn’t exactly a die-hard Fulham fan, but chose to support the club after meeting her husband, Tom Ackerley.

Film producer and actor Ackerley was born in Surrey and has been a life-long fans of the Whites, and managed to persuade Robbie to follow in his footsteps.

‘I actually haven’t been to another Fulham game for a while, but I know they’re playing tomorrow against Aston Villa,’ Robbie said in 2017 while promoting her latest film, I, Tonya.

‘And it’s my two best friends. Well, it’s my husband and my other best friend Josie. Aston Villa are Josie’s team, Fulham are Tom’s team, so they’re going to the game and it’s tense already. I’m on the edge of my seat to see who wins.

‘I’ve pledged my allegiance to Fulham, so I want Fulham to win.’

Usain Bolt – Manchester United

Having one of the biggest sporting stars of all time support your football club must be quite handy, and Manchester United have just that in the form of Usain Bolt.

The world record sprinter is an avid supporter of the Red Devils, and has regularly been invited to the ground to watch games and meet players, even meeting current manager Erik ten Hag.

Bolt even tried his hand at professional football, stating that he wanted to play for United after his retirement from sprinting, but a second career never materialised. He has, however, captained the Rest of the World Soccer Aid team at Old Trafford.

Daniel Craig – Liverpool

Having James Bond support your team could potentially be the only thing cooler than the fastest person ever doing so, and Liverpool have that accolade with David Craig being a big fan.

Sir Alex Ferguson once said that the only thing he knew about Craig was that he was a Liverpool fan, and the 55-year-old, born in Chester, may have more time on his hands to get to games now he’s quit the film series.

Craig can be seen at Anfield on occasion and met the Liverpool team in 2018, including current captain Virgil van Dijk.
