Wednesday morning saw Real Madrid receive some welcome news, as head coach Carlo Ancelotti has tested negative for COVID-19 and will travel to London to be on the touchline for the first leg of Los Blancos‘ Champions League quarter-final tie against Chelsea.
The Italian coach was unable to travel with the rest of the team on Tuesday because he was still returning positive COVID-19 tests, despite being practically asymptomatic.
Chelsea host Real Madrid in a repeat of last year’s Champions League semi-final, and as reported by Radio MARCA, Ancelotti will be in charge of the team at Stamford Bridge.
Absent in Vigo
Ancelotti tested positive for COVID-19 last Wednesday, March 30, and therefore missed Real Madrid‘s match against Celta Vigo at Balaidos on Saturday.
His son, Davide Ancelotti, and youth team coach Abian Perdomo were in charge of the team in Vigo, where Real Madrid grabbed a narrow 2-1 victory courtesy of two successful Karim Benzema penalty kicks.
