When it came to the wardrobe on Full House, some of the actresses made sure to speak their mind.
Actresses Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin chatted about a fashion debate from a particular episode on the “How Rude, Tanneritos” podcast.
Jodie Sweetin, known for her role as Stephanie Tanner, and Andrea Barber, known for her role as Kimmy Gibbler on the famous 90s show set in San Francisco, talked about the season 3 episode called “Just Say No Way,” which first aired on March 30, 1990.
In this episode, DJ Tanner discovers that her high school boyfriend Kevin (played by Scott Curtis) was drinking illegally. Interestingly, Uncle Jesse (played by John Stamos) initially suspected DJ of being the one consuming alcohol.
In that episode, Candace Cameron Bure, who played DJ Tanner, wore an all black outfit consisting of a big belt, MC Hammer pants and a black bustier with gold accents and a cropped black jacket. Her hair, obviously, was big.
Sweetin recalled the style of hair that Cameron Bure, 48, sported in the episode.
“This was the hair that she would pull her hair out to the side, and then you’d spray it like that. You’d literally spray it so your hair went out to the side of your head,” she said. “I feel like shoulder pads were getting a little smaller, but the bangs were getting a lot bigger.”
Barber agreed, responding, “The bangs. Baby’s got bangs, man. It is big hair, big outfit.” She added that the outfit was a Cameron Bure choice herself.
“Candace loved this outfit,” Barber shared. “The producers wanted her to wear a dress. She was like, no. This is what I wanna wear, this little pantsuit outfit. And she got to.”
Both Sweetin and Barber said that the outfit “was very stylish.”
Barber added that Cameron Bure “was fantastic.” She said, “So this is very edgy. And you can see the Janet Jackson influence is still strong.”
Full House was a major phenomenon in the sitcom world and aired from 1987 to 1995. The show lasted for eight seasons. Years later, it was given a new installment on Netflix titled Fuller House. The reboot aired on the streaming service from 2016 to 2020.
The original Full House cast starred Sweetin, Barber alongside other iconic actors such as Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, Lori Loughlin, John Stamos, and twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson.
With the exception of the Olson twins, most of the cast returned for Fuller House.
Cameron Bure, for her part, appears in two new Christmas movies from Great American Family this holiday season. Her first movie, A Christmas Less Traveled, premiered earlier in November, while the second film, Home Sweet Christmas, premiered on Sunday, December 1.
