A 12-year-old Las Vegas girl was arrested Friday night for the stabbing death of her father.
North Las Vegas police were alerted to the incident around 9:30 p.m. by a family member, according to reports from the Las Vegas Review Journal. Surprisingly, it was revealed by KSNV that the one who dialed 911 was none other than the adolescent suspect involved in the case.
Police arrived at the home and found the girl and her 55-year-old father, who was dead.
Investigators identified the girl as the sole suspect in the case, and she was charged with murder using a deadly weapon.
Authorities mentioned that they had previously visited the residence in December after receiving reports of both a missing juvenile and a domestic altercation. They clarified that upon their earlier visit, they did not discover any indication of major physical injury to the young girl before the tragic event that led to her father’s demise.
Detectives are working to piece together what led to the stabbing.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity and cause and manner of death later.
