Six people from Ohio, five men, and one woman, have been taken into custody on charges of kidnapping and assault. They are accused of holding a young man captive and subjecting him to beatings and torture for a period of one week.
The individuals facing charges are Toledo Police officers Aaron Bradshaw, 40, and Austin Bradshaw, 23, along with Michael Esqueda, 28; Martina Jones, 28; David Cessna, 26; and Chance Johnson, 27. They have all been accused of kidnapping with the intent to either cause fear or inflict serious physical harm on the victim, as per reports from WJW.
Authorities from the City of Maumee disclosed that the victim was attacked at the Red Roof Inn, with the assault commencing on March 14 and lasting for a week. They mentioned that the Toledo police were also looking into a possible second location linked to the incident.
Maumee officials said that three of the suspects face charges there as well. Cessna is charged with domestic violence, Johnston is charged with felonious assault, and Jones is charged with felonious assault and domestic violence.
The victim told investigators he was beaten with a baseball bat and fists, was forced to stand for extended periods of time, was given food and drink just once a day, and only slept for about 10 hours during the weeklong torture.
Court documents said the victim had injuries all over his body. The documents did not say what led to the kidnapping and torture or how the victim and his assailants were connected.
The six were booked into the Lucas County jail on Saturday and are due in court Monday morning, WTOL reported.
