Watch moment gigantic monster python is seen swimming away in flood waters in Thailand after ‘eating dog’

THIS is the terrifying moment a 20ft monster was spotted swimming along a road after “eating a dog”.

Watch as the beast squirms against the current in deep floodwater in Thailand with a huge bloated belly bobbing up in the air.

The viral video shows the colossal snake swaying along the surface of muddy floodwater, with litter and debris bobbing past.

There is a very large bulge along its body, but the huge head is submerged and out of sight.

Neighbours had noticed their chickens going missing, and the snake appears to be the culprit.

It was even claimed that the snake had consumed an entire dog as its most recent meal.

The huge serpent was spotted by a local in the Pattani province, southern Thailand, after heavy rains left the ground waterlogged.

Local Mohammad Sobri Abdulrahman said: “Neighbours told me that the snake had been eating their chickens, so they going kept missing.

“When the area was flooded, it had nowhere to go, so it might have been stuck where we first saw it.”

When Mohammad returned to the site two days later, the huge serpent appeared to be dead.

The second part of the video shows it floating motionless, belly up, in the brown water near a drain pipe hole.

Its stomach is still bulging and looks to be bloated with gas.

The monster reptile has been identified as a reticulated python, which lives throughout South-East Asia.

One X user commented on the video: “It’s a reticulated python belly up, which means it’s either dead or in deep distress. Poor thing.”

Another was less sympathetic to the snake: “Just removed Thailand from my bucket list.”

A third viewer was particularly disturbed and assumed the worst: “That stomach bulge is scarily human shaped too!”

What is a reticulated python?

The reticulated python is known to be the world’s longest snake.

The reticulated python is known to be the world’s longest snake.

The longest recorded reticulated python was 32ft long – almost 10 metres! That’s longer than the average giraffe.

It is also one of the three heaviest species of snake in the world.

The python is typically found across Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, India and Borneo.

There are at least two documented cases of reticulated pythons eating humans – both in Indonesia. Once was in March 2017, and again in June 2018.

Both snakes were 23ft long and opened up after being killed to reveal the dead human bodies.

The snakes feed on rodents, pigs, civets, bearcats and even primates.

The main predator of the reticulated python is the king cobra, which is found in many of the same locations.

Thailand and the nearby countries experience their monsoon period between September and November, characterized by high temperatures preceding heavy rainfall.

It seems this snake was caught in the floods that followed.

Devastating floods this year in southern Thailand have displaced thousands of people from the area – and caused dozens of deaths.

Reports from Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation indicate that a minimum of 25 individuals have lost their lives due to flood-related incidents, with more than 33,000 individuals compelled to evacuate their residences.

The Department of Mineral Resources has issued alerts about the potential for landslides and sudden floods in southern Thailand, posing challenges to ongoing rescue efforts.
