A Florida man has been arrested for shooting and killing another man who was riding an ATV in a Winter Garden apartment complex.
According to WESH, Winter Garden Police indicated that the shooting was connected to an ongoing disagreement regarding individuals riding motorcycles within the area. Apparently, Ralph Francis Hensel, aged 57, opted to escalate the situation by shooting Ja’Keem DeShun Williams, aged 32, while Williams was operating what the police described as a “four-wheel motorcycle.”
Upon receiving the report, the police arrived at the location to discover Williams, who had sustained a gunshot wound, on the ground next to his ATV. Medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Hensel has been charged with first degree murder.
WKMG noted that the police mentioned receiving complaints from residents in the complex concerning motorcycles, although they did not specify the number of complaints, the residents filing them, or whether authorities had been contacted previously regarding these disputes. Details were also not provided on how the situation culminated in a deadly shooting, nor has it been revealed if Hensel and Williams had engaged in any prior interactions.
A police spokesman said Hensel was identified quickly as the suspect.
“Investigators were able to identify him as the suspect based on evidence obtained during the investigation, witness statements, and statements made on scene by the suspect himself,” Capt. Scott Allen said.
Aerial footage appeared to show the complex was a neighborhood of apparent duplexes.
