Inside New Orleans Airbnb where Shamsud Din-Jabbar built his bombs and lit bedroom on fire before deadly truck attack

ISIS-inspired terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar turned his luxury New Orleans Airbnb into a bomb-making factory before lighting a fire one of the bedrooms, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

The US Army veteran, 42, left the two-bedroom, two-bathroom, property on Mandeville Street littered in white powder and wires, exclusive photos show.

It comes after federal bomb disposal units and investigators wearing hazmat suits descended on the quiet street and cordoned off the rental, urging residents to stay away.

After two days of examining the property investigators have turned it back to its owner, who declined to comment when approached by DailyMail.com, explaining the FBI had asked him not to speak.

Exclusive DailyMail.com photos show the property in complete disarray, with the front and parts of the insides showing scorch marks and empty buckets.

Investigators suspect that the terrorist used the property to build his IEDs which he loaded into the back of his EV-truck on New Year’s Eve.

A cooler was recovered by officers on Bourbon Street, with authorities confirming Jabbar had planned to detonate the device remotely.

The terrorist appeared to use one of the two bedrooms as his bomb-making station, with the bed covered in an unidentified white powder, black wires and plastic.

He is thought to have set fire to the property before leaving, with local authorities rushing to the scene in the early hours before calling in the FBI.

One of the window’s in the property was smashed, offering a glimpse inside a scorched room covered in black soot and ash.

A bedroom at the front of the Airbnb appeared to be where the fire had started, with the hallway filled with burned buckets.

A queen-sized bed with no pillows could be seen littered with a white powdery substance, a pair of scissors, paper, and a plastic Kroger grocery store bag.

Bags of trash were also scattered throughout the property, with Jabbar appearing to have tucked into a pizza before he carried out the deadly massacre.

Strong chemicals for cleaning were left outside the property, along with blue gloves, with one window also appearing to have been smashed.

The hallways were covered in soot, with white powder also covering the floor.

Jabbar, a US citizen born and raised in Texas, had been living in a dilapidated trailer in the outskirts of Houston before traveling to New Orleans to carry out the deadly rampage.

On Thursday, DailyMail.com photos gave a glimpse inside the shabby abode, revealing Jabbar left the home in disarray and left behind dozens of religious items.

Along with the cheap furniture he abandoned in the trailer was a Koran, prayer mats and a book on Islamic banking and finance.

That book, The Art of RF (Riba-Free) Islamic Banking and Finance purports to ‘take a modern American approach to incorporating Islamic financial principles into banking and investment techniques’.

Riba – charging interest on loans – is prohibited in Islamic finance as it is considered an unjust gain.

When DailyMail.com visited the home on the eastern edge of the Heritage Village section of the city early on Thursday, the front door was closed. But when we returned later in the day it had been kicked off its hinges allowing the world to see in.

Jabbar, 42, plowed his pickup truck into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street in the early hours of New Year Day, killing 15 and injuring at least 35 others. He was shot dead in a gun battle with police.

He had been an open admirer of the Islamic terror group ISIS and had the group’s flag flying from his vehicle.

And his home in a largely Muslim neighborhood of North Houston shows his devotion to Islam. A copy of the Koran was left open on an easel next to a vase of faux flowers.

Other books inside the home included a seven-volume set known as the Islamic library, including a book titled ‘The Sealed Nectar’- a comprehensive biography of the Prophet Muhammad and several pamphlets on comparative religions.

Although the home was disheveled it was clean.

The home gives the impression that Jabbar left in a hurry. A suitcase and two prayer mats were thrown over a blue couch in the living area, along with a black belt.

Incongruously among the religious items in his living room, a dart board hung on the wall next to a fake fireplace.

By the front door, Jabbar left behind a mobile credit card machine, duct tape and bubble wrap and several pairs of shoes.

In the kitchen, there were pantry items on the countertop alongside a white fire extinguisher. Below the countertop area in the kitchen, a military green backpack sat on the floor near a black garbage can.

Near the kitchen area Jabbar had a desk with several papers and other items left on top, there is an area where the hard drive of his computer was taken by police hours earlier.

According to a neighbor Jabbar left his house just hours before he went on his New Year’s Day rampage, saying he was moving to New Orleans for a better job.

Muntaz Bashir told the New York Post that Jabbar had left just hours before the 3.15 am attack.

Bashir said the neighbor appeared normal when he spoke to him. ‘Unfortunately, you can’t read someone’s mind. I was shocked.’

Cops believe Jabbar, a US citizen born and raised in Texas drove an electric vehicle from Houston to Louisiana to carry out the deadly attack which killed 15 and left at least 35 injured.

Investigators are probing the theory he rented a nearby property on Airbnb in the New Orleans neighborhood of St. Roch for his base before carrying out the attack.

Exclusive DailyMail.com photographs show the moment the FBI removed bomb making materials from the two-bedroom and two-bathroom property close to the French Quarter.

A total containment vessel was seen being taken away from the property at around 8pm on New Years Day, hours after authorities had evacuated residents from the area.
