A North Carolina woman arrested Monday for allegedly trying to murder her child has an extensive criminal history, according to police.
Raleigh police arrested 28-year-old Matquisha Alexis Jones, after she placed her child in a chokehold and pointed a gun at the child in April 2023.
An arrest warrant from WRAL indicated that Jones is held responsible for a range of physical, psychological, and emotional abuse incidents that have led the victim to experience long-lasting post-traumatic stress.
Jones is currently confronted with various accusations, such as attempted first-degree murder, assault by strangulation, assault by pointing a gun, and felony child abuse.
Having a criminal record that stretches back over ten years, Jones had a shoplifting charge in 2013, two robbery with a dangerous weapon charges in 2016, a fraud charge in 2017, and an identity theft charge in the subsequent year.
In 2013, police charged her with shoplifting. In 2016, she faced charges for robbery with a dangerous weapon on two separate occasions. In 2017, she was charged with fraud, and the following year, she faced charges for identity theft.
In October, police charged her with communicating threats.
In rhe most recent current case, she’s been with attempted murder and child abuse.
