A trial that went on for almost a month concluded on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, with a Los Angeles jury declaring A$AP Rocky not guilty on two charges of felony assault involving a semiautomatic firearm.
During the trial, Rakim Mayers, also known as A$AP Rocky, was accused of shooting a handgun at his former associate, Terell Ephron, known as A$AP Relli, in a Hollywood altercation that took place on November 6, 2021.
The prosecution argued that A$AP Rocky deliberately fired at Ephron following a disagreement, while Ephron’s testimony mentioned sustaining a minor injury to his hand from a bullet during the encounter.
In his defense, A$AP Rocky’s team argued that he was carrying a “prop gun” for security reasons and suggested that Ephron’s actions were driven by jealousy. A$AP Rocky chose not to testify during the trial.
After deliberation, the jury acquitted him on both counts. Upon hearing the verdict, A$AP Rocky tearfully thanked the jury for “saving my life.” His partner, Rihanna, took to social media to express her gratitude, crediting the outcome to God’s mercy.

Prior to the trial, A$AP Rocky turned down a plea deal that would have included a 180-day jail sentence. A key issue throughout the trial was whether A$AP Rocky had used a real firearm or a prop gun during the altercation.
