Suzanne Simpson: Business Partner of Accused Wife Killer Indicted in Texas Murder Case

The business partner of accused wife killer Brad Simpson was indicted Monday in a Bexar County, Texas, court room.

Simpson’s longtime business partner, James Cotter, was indicted by a Bexar County grand jury on charges related to the disappearance of Suzanne Clark Simpson. Jail records show that he faces charges of evidence tampering and possession of prohibited weapons.

Cotter posted bond on November 8 after it was reduced from $1 million to $100,000, KSAT reports. As part of his bond conditions, he is prohibited from contacting Simpson or possessing a firearm. Cotter was also fitted with a GPS monitor.

As CrimeOnline previously reported,  Suzanne Simpson, 51, vanished on October 6, following an alleged argument with her husband outside their Olmos Park home near San Antonio. Investigators said Brad Simpson “intentionally and knowingly” killed his wife on that day, according to an anrrest affidavit.

He was formally charged with her murder on November 7.

Simpson is also charged with assault causing bodily injury, family violence, and unlawful restraint. He  appeared indifferent to his wife’s disappearance, displaying “little to no emotion,” an arresting Texas Ranger observed.

Meanwhile, a judge imposed a gag order in the case, as stated in court documents. Bexar County District Court Judge Joel Perez enacted the order to ensure a fair trial and prevent any impact on the potential jury pool. The decision came one day after Simpson’s first court appearance.

Simpson will return to court on Thursday for a bond modification hearing, with his next custody hearing planned for April 8, 2025.
