Millie Bobby Brown recently discussed the criticism she has faced about her looks, particularly comments suggesting she looks older than her age. On the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the 21-year-old actress candidly expressed her annoyance with these comments.
“One thing I hear a lot is, ‘Oh my God, she looks like she’s 40,’”
Brown revealed.
She pointed out that she entered the public eye at just 10 years old, and it’s only natural that her appearance has evolved over the past decade.
“Of course, you first saw me when I was 10, so it’s understandable that I look different now. I’m 21, so it’s expected that I’ve changed. People grow, my face has also evolved. So, what am I supposed to do about that?”
she pointed out.
Brown acknowledged that she’s gotten used to being in the public eye, but she also stressed that these comments don’t affect her like they used to.
“I wish I could say, ‘You know what, it bothers me.’ It did, for sure… I remember trying to change myself to please everyone,”
she admitted. Nowadays, she fully embraces the changes in her appearance and her personal style, including her accent and makeup choices.
She also took to Instagram to call out the media’s obsession with her looks, criticizing tabloids for what she viewed as bullying. She was particularly disappointed that many of these comments come from adult writers, including women. Brown emphasized the importance of society supporting young women as they grow and change.
Her comments come after she faced heavy scrutiny following her appearance at the premiere of her film “The Electric State,” where her new blonde hair led to remarks about looking older. Regardless, Brown stands firm against such judgments, promoting a more supportive environment for young women in the spotlight.
