Florida man's bloodcurdling threat after he saw black girl, 9, appear on his doorstep selling candy

A white Florida man threatened to shoot a nine-year-old black girl after she appeared on his doorstep selling candy.

On April 14, Tyler Chambers posted something troubling in a local Facebook group. His post came after a young girl named Sincere came to his door in Riverview, a suburb of Tampa, to sell candy.

He posted an image of Sincere to the page and wrote: ‘Your lucky we weren’t home to shoot your a** dumb b****.’

Although Chambers has since removed the alarming post, it spread widely on social media. Many people were outraged by what he said about the child, and the post received significant negative attention.

Chambers claimed that the girl, Sincere, was part of a scheme to distract him while others planned to break into his house. However, he did not offer any proof to back up his serious accusation before shutting down his account.

He later went on to seemingly explain his actions and choice of words, writing: ‘I saw that on my camera and have a wife and 7-month-old at home, which I will protect as you would.

‘I was hot when I posted it which is why I deleted it right away I could have handled it a lot different,’ Chambers said, adding that he wanted to find the girl’s parents ‘to have a conversation with them.’

He continued: ‘But yes I could have handled it a lot different and wanted to apologize but I was trying to protect the family and it was the wrong way.’

Later, Beyond Shabazz, the mother of the nine-year-old at the center of the incident, took to social media to share her side of the story.

Shabazz said her family lives in the same community as Chambers, and on that day, Sincere and her 11-year-old niece went to sell candy around the neighborhood after coming home from school around 4pm.

‘I wasn’t aware that they were out selling candy. I was home with my 1-year-old and my mother, who has just undergone brain surgery. Usually, when the kids come home, they go outside to play, and I’m only okay with it as long as she takes her older cousins with her,’ she added.

After learning about what took place, Shabazz said she ‘immediately’ called the authorities and filed a police report.

She also noted that she is not at all interested in having a conversation with Chambers ‘because he and his wife thought it would be a good idea to lie publicly.’

‘Tyler Chambers and his wife, Cassidy Chambers, stated on social media they were going to hurt my little girl because she knocked on the door,’ the furious mother said.

She later posted that ‘there’s nothing wrong’ with kids going around the neighborhood to sell candy.

‘My kids were in their neighborhoods, not the streets, in broad daylight selling candy. There’s nothing wrong with kids going door to door selling candy.

Before deactivating his account, Chambers alleged that the girl was acting as a 'decoy' for an an alleged break-in at his home, but did not provide evidence to support his accusation

‘We have Girl Scouts come to our door selling cookies, and not once did we make them feel uncomfortable or post anything saying such words as what was used towards my daughter. We treat everybody with respect,’ Shabazz added.

She also shared a video that a neighbor of Chambers sent to her of her daughter knocking on their door and trying to sell candy.

In a message between the mom and neighbor, they said Sincere ‘was not a threat.’

‘I have my ring camera recording and I even went out to speak with her and the other kid with her,’ they added.

She launched a GoFundMe page to help raise money for her family’s legal fund. As of Wednesday afternoon more than $14,000 was raised.

Shabazz also created a Change.org petition to get Chambers arrested for his online threat against her daughter.

‘Our lives were irrevocably altered when Tyler Chambers brazenly threatened my 9-year-old daughter online, stating in no uncertain terms that he wished harm upon her for simply knocking on his door,’ she wrote.

‘His horrifying words, “YOU’RE LUCKY WE WEREN’T HOME TO SHOOT YOUR A**, DUMB B****” directed at my little girl, are still ringing in my ears.’

‘We must diligently and fervently strive to ensure our children’s safety above all.

She added: ‘Therefore, we call for Tyler Chambers to be arrested and held accountable for his threats against a minor. Justice on this front would send a potent message to all potential offenders.’

More than 1,000 people have signed the petition.

Many social media users have called for Chambers to be fired from his job as a general manager at Mister Car Wash in Tampa.

The company has received a slew of negative comments online since the incident unfolded.

It is unclear if he still works there. DailyMail.com contacted the company for comment.

It is also unclear if there have been any updates in the investigation. DailyMail.com contacted the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for comment.
