Orsini, a Colorado native, was a journalist for CBS affiliate KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona, since June 2023.

She often posted on social media about her work or her passion for animals.

“Christmas decor and an A&M vs. Texas game?!” Orsini wrote on Facebook on November 30.

The picture showed a TV displaying a football game on top of a fireplace’s mantel.

“It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.”

She then ended the post by rooting for Texas A&M University’s football team, the Aggies.

“Only thing more beautiful is an Aggie win! COME ON AGS!!”

She posted again on December 11 about one of the last stories she covered on air about a missing dog.

Orsini died last week from a brain aneurysm, her team announced on Tuesday.

The exact day she died is unclear.

Orsini’s colleagues announced her death during a broadcast on December 16.

“Sad news to share with you, our beloved friend and co-anchor Ana Orsini passed away unexpectedly last week,” anchor Tyler Butler said.

Co-anchor Carsyn Currier continued the statement while choking back tears.

“Ana has been here at 13 News since June of 2023, and we are devastated by this loss,” Currier said.

KOLD-TV’s statement

CBS affiliate KOLD-TV shared the following statement about the death of their anchor, Ana Orsini:

“The 13 News Family is saddened to report the passing of our beloved friend and co-anchor Ana Orsini,” the news team shared.

“Ana had been at 13 News since June 2023 and we are devastated by her unexpected passing. She died last week of a brain aneurysm.”

The channel shared a compilation video of some of Orsini’s moments on air.

“Ana’s friends and coworkers remember her as someone with bottomless empathy who always stood up for ‘the little guy,'” the team said.

She was a cheerful presence, especially for her newest and youngest colleagues. In all the newsrooms she was a part of, she was famous for guiding and supporting them, acting as a mentor for their professional and personal lives.

“Rescue animals were her passion, and if she wasn’t celebrating Fur Baby Friday, she’d be trying to find a new home for a cutie in need.

“If Ana found out you loved true crime, like she did, she would share the calendar she kept to track the releases of all the new episodes of the best podcasts.

“Her favorite was True Crime Obsessed, and if you spent longer than 5 minutes with Ana without hearing her favorite quote from it, ‘Let the women do the work,’ then something was seriously wrong!

“She was a peanut-butter-M&M-loving, platform-Ugg-wearing, pink-or-purple-Stanley-toting ray of sunshine, even at 4:00 in the morning.”

Butler added, “We had the opportunity to work with her every day, and we do want you to know that what you saw with her on air, the funny, crazy person she was, she was just like that off-camera and more so.”

Orsini’s loved ones wore pink to remember the journalist.

TRIBUTES POUR IN

After Butler and Currier remembered the anchor on air, tributes to the journalist began to pour in on social media.

Many fans remembered her quoting her favorite podcast, True Crime Obsessed, and saying, “Let the women do the work.”

“Ana, you were a sweet, funny ray of sunshine in the morning. You will be missed,” one Facebook user wrote.

“I’m so sad. I loved watching her every morning. I’m so so sorry for your loss,” another wrote on Currier’s post.

“RIP Ana you are gone too soon,” a third commented.

Orsini’s family asked for donations to be sent to local animal shelters to honor the journalist’s love of pets.
