Andrew Lincoln’s Wife Gael Anderson Is the Daughter of a World-Famous Musician

Gael Anderson, Andrew Lincoln’s wife, is well-known for being the British actor’s wife. However, she was born into a famous household. She is the daughter of the renowned and multi-talented multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, and musician Ian Anderson from Scotland.

Andrew Lincoln made his acting debut in the late 1980s. He was born Andrew Clutterbuck on September 14, 1973, and after high school at Beechen Cliff School in Bath, he attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) drama school in London.

He got his big break as Edgar “Egg” Cook, one of the key characters in “This Life,” shortly after graduating from theater school in 1996.

The actor has starred in several British television series and dramas. Lincoln gained broader recognition in 2003 when he starred as Mark in “Love Actually.”

Seven years later, he was making waves at the heart of one of the world’s most successful pop culture franchises when he played the role of Rick Grimes, a family man, and the town’s deputy sheriff, in “The Walking Dead.” As his career succeeded, so did his personal life, as he married his wife Gael on June 10, 2006.

Who Is Gael Anderson?

Gael is the daughter of the world-famous musician Ian Anderson. Her father, known as “The Madman Flautist,” is the lead vocalist and founding member of the rock band Jethro Tull. He is also one of the best flutists in the world.

The recording and performing musician is famous for introducing the flute to rock music. Like her father and husband, she has also worked in the entertainment industry.

Gael worked as a floor runner in the 2001 series “Teacher,” and she met her husband during the production. When they met, he was a guest director for the series.

For Lincoln, it was love at first sight, and in no time, they started dating. Four years later, they had a private wedding, and within three years, their family grew.

The actor once revealed that marriage made him a better man and a better actor, and he would always put his family first as they kept him more grounded.

Lincoln stated that he knew he was ready to settle down, and it was terrific when he fell for Gael. He said:

“You can’t really quantify or explain emotions. […] Ours is a very ordinary love story, I suppose. We met, we spent time together, and then I proposed and we got married and had children.”

In addition to falling in love, the couple’s parents never divorced, which was another motivating factor for them to be together. The actor also credited his wife for his ability to do a good job.

While Lincoln is away filming and killing zombies, Gael, a full-time mom, has built a life for them. In 2016, he revealed that he did not have a smartphone or app because his magnificent wife is his app.

Do Gael Anderson and Andrew Lincoln Have Kids Together?

The couple welcomed their daughter Matilda Clutterbuck in 2007, followed by their son, Arthur Clutterbuck, in 2010. The actor’s family became his world.

Lincoln proved this in 2018 when he decided to walk away from “The Walking Dead” series. At the time, he revealed that his children were young and he lived in a different country from them. He wanted an opportunity to spend time with them.

What Is Andrew Lincoln up to Now?

After leaving “The Walking Dead” show to focus on his family, Andrew Lincoln later revealed that he regretted his decision. He said he went home because of his kids, but they got sick of him.

The actor left Georgia, US, where the series was shot, and went home to London. On his return, his son no longer wanted him to take on roles that were not in Georgia because he missed the place.

However, the actor has hopes to return to the franchise in the movies. Unfortunately, the pandemic delayed the film’s shooting, and there have been no more details about the casting.
