Anna Wintour’s Vogue magazine did not include Nicole Scherzinger in its recap of ‘every star who attended the Met Gala’. This decision followed backlash against the singer for showing support for ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA).
Nicole Scherzinger, aged 46, was notably missing from the 306-photo feature named ‘See Every Look from the Met Gala 2025 Red Carpet Last Night’. This exclusion came after the Pussycat Dolls singer sparked controversy by endorsing a hat with a MAGA theme last year.
Scherzinger is currently the toast of Broadway after starring as faded movie star Norma Desmond in a revival of the musical Sunset Boulevard.
For her first appearance at the prestigious event on Monday night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, she wore a stunning white gown created by Prabal Gurung. The attire featured shimmering pinstripes and a large black cape, making a bold statement at the A-List gathering.
Sunset Boulevard has won rave reviews – particularly for Scherzinger’s performance. She’s garnered a prestigious Tony nomination for her efforts and is the darling of New York’s chattering class.Â
But the singer was nowhere to be found in Vogue’s enormous gallery, sparking speculation that liberal-leaning Wintour, 75, is up to her petty old tricks.
In 2013, the editor’s team weaponized the gallery by cropping Kim Kardashian out of a photo as she attended the Met Gala with then-boyfriend Kanye West.Â
Only a sliver of Kim’s floral dress could be seen, during a period where Vogue viewed Kim with snooty disdain.Â
Scherzinger issued a bizarre and confusing non-denial after DailyMail.com revealed her conservative views last fall.
And Vogue has snubbed her from its pages since, despite lauding her Sunset Boulevard comeback multiple times just before the MAGA revelation.Â
To add insult to injury, Monday’s round-up acknowledged the success of Sunset Boulevard with a photo of Scherzinger’s co-star Tom Francis, who’s also been nominated for a Tony.Â
Also included high in the round-up of ‘stars’ was Wintour’s daughter Bee Carrozzini, a 37 year-old TV producer. Â
Monday night’s event was also co-chaired by British Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, a former boyfriend of Scherzinger’s.
The pair had been together in an on-off relationship for eight years before calling it quits in 2015.
Wintour has long been open about her Democrat politics and was once rumored to have been considered to become former President Barack Obama’s Ambassador to Britain.Â
Scherzinger found herself the target of liberal fury in November 2024 after lauding a MAGA-style ‘Make Jesus Great Again Hat’ worn by comedian Russell Brand on X.
‘Where do I get this hat!!!!?’, the devout Catholic singer replied alongside praying hands and heart emojis.Â
Scherzinger also liked a post by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after Trump’s successful election win.
It said:Â Â ‘Yes @russellbrand @tuckercarlson I will restore speech, end the forever wars, and protect children’s health once we get @realdonaldtrump back in the White House.’
Scherzinger issued a garbled statement afterwards, saying: ‘I deeply apologize for the hurt caused by my recent engagement with some social media posts.
‘When I commented on these posts, I made the mistake of not realizing that they could be easily interpreted as being politically related and I apologize to anyone who understandably reached that conclusion.’
The star went on to explain that though the public has jumped to their own conclusions, it did not reflect what she believes is nor who she had voted for.
But Scherzinger did not say who she’d voted for – or deny she was MAGA – in an apparent sleight of hand that seemed designed to tamp down the controversy.Â
Screenshots also emerged around this time showing that she had liked an Instagram post by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in which he expressed support of President Trump.
In 2008, Nicole publicly endorsed Barack Obama’s campaign by featuring on will.i.am’s Yes We Can – a promotional single for the democrat candidate.
In 2022, her fans questioned her political views when she cheered on Rudy Giuliani while he competed on The Masked Singer.
When the former mayor of NYC and Trump’s lawyer was unmasked she and fellow panelist, Fox presenter Jenny McCarthy, cheered Giuliani on. Â
In contrast, other panelists Ken Jeong and singer Robin Thicke reportedly walked off after the reveal.
While Scherzinger failed to publicly endorse any candidate in last years election, she has been open about her anti-abortion stance and her rejection of the term ‘feminist’.Â
‘I’m just for women. I’m also for the human race in general,’ she said when pressed on her views.
However, she has made several comments championing women and claimed that her former band’s risqué music videos were ’empowering’.
Scherzinger has been nominated for a Tony for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Norma Desmond in ‘Sunset Boulevard’.
The play earned seven nominations, and the ceremony is set to take place on June 8 in New York City.Â
